12 – 13 March at NST City
Nuffield Southampton Theatre are delighted to welcome Blak Whyte Gray to NST City 12 – 13 March.
Nominated for an Olivier Award for Best New Dance Production in 2017, and Critics Pick in the New York Times in 2018, Blak Whyte Gray is a searingly powerful dance piece fuelled by an emotional energy.
The time is right to ask questions, to break free from a system that isn’t working, and to emerge on the other side to an awakening – a return to roots. Blak Whyte Gray is a fierce triple bill which pairs the physicality of hip-hop with the rhythmical groove of music and moves evoking Africa.
Boy Blue founders Michael ‘Mikey J’ Asante and Kenrick ‘H20’ Sandy, have created a personal response to their experiences and observations of the world, packed with political bite.
“Boy Blue came to visit NST-City just after it had opened and loved both the theatre and the ethos of the team that work within it. We can’t wait to bring Blak Whyte Gray to Southampton – it is a powerful, political and ultimately redemptive piece that resonates with audiences, of all ages, world-wide. We can’t wait to share it with you.”
The company are an Associate Artist at the Barbican in London and choreographed for the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony in conjunction withDanny Boyle.
